The Function of Ball Mount in the Towing System

Do you know what ball mount is? If you plan to tow, you'll need to select the best components to make up your entire towing system. Accessories like Hitches, receivers, ball mounts and hitch couplers are the main components that make up a complete towing system. Some hitches are used for heavy-duty and commercial use. Some even resemble those seen on tractor trailers.
Choosing the proper ball mount just like choosing almost any other towing accessory. Safety is the most important thing to keep in mind. Selecting the proper ball mount involves taking some measurements from both your tow vehicle and the trailer you plan to haul. First of all, measure the height of ball mount. Then, determine ball mount size. In addition, there are some reminds for you to know before you making choice.
  1. Some ball mounts have a drop on one side and can be turned upside down if a rise is needed.
  2. You can purchase a ball mount that is straight, without a rise or drop, if no adjustments are necessary.
  3. Measuring from the wrong location on the ball mount for the rise or drop can make your trailer sit out of level when attached to the ball mount.
